GE says, "Change a Light, Change the World."

April 8, 2008 - 9:41am by Ms. Amber
The ENERGY STAR® Change a Light, Change the World campaign is an annual challenge during October and November for all Americans to switch to ENERGY STAR® qualified lighting products. By taking the pledge, you can help change the world, one light at a time.

Do you think this could really make a difference, or is it a marketing ploy to sell their light bulbs?   ~Ms. Amber

It definately is a marketing ploy, because they wouldn't be a business without that.

However, it has been proven that these lights do save energy, and it has been drilled into us that saving energy=saving the world.

Looks like we have to give it a shot to see if that works.
