Opinion on the 2008 Election

October 15, 2008 - 3:50pm by anniebell7

The current election seems to be between the two vice-candidates, not the two candidates for president. It seems to me that John McCain would die of a heart attack, or another one of his many health problems, while Barack Obama would probably be assassinated. We have so much discrimination and racism in this country right now towards different skin colors, homo-sexual people, various religions, youth, woman, elderly and many more. If Barack Obama was elected some people would be so upset they would consider assassination as a quick fix.

When a president dies, his vice-president becomes president until the next election. I like Joe Biden, but Sarah Palin would be a very bad choice for this country. She is a threat to the environment, country and the world. Here are five reason's why:

1. She sued to have Polar Bears taken off the Endangered Species list.

2. She wants to give the government control of a woman's body, by getting rid of abortions, even if you have been raped! How would you like it if you were 13 and you got raped by somebody?  You got pregnant and was forced to have a baby because abortions were made illegal. How does that sound to you?

3. She won't let homo-sexual have rights, like marriage or hospital visitation rights. When a patient is in critical condition at a hospital, nobody is allowed to visit except for spouse, parent, or child. Without marrige, gay people can't visit their partner.

4. Many months before her most recent son was born, she was told that he had Downs Syndrom.  She had the option to get an abortion, but she decided to have the baby.  Now, she is tossing it around to get more votes for John McCain and herself.

5. Sarah Palin installed a bridge leading to an island. The island had around 200 people living on it and wasted tons of our country's money.  Now it is refered to 'The Bridge To Nowhere.'She wasted the country's money with the bridge that lead literally to NOWHERE!

Overall, Sarah Palin is a bad choice to be a leader of our country. She is not trustworthy and needs to understand our country's problems. Sure, Alaska may need a bridge to lead to the beautiful island that has a tiny population, but people in other areas are living in poverty, barley making enough to eat. Palin needs a reality check. And Fast.

Something you say really ticks me off, yes this is an election, but just because she wants to win does not mean she is using her child for more votes. I am disgusted and appalled.

It was a choice to have her baby. She didn't have the child to swing the votes towards her. She is a compassionate loving women who wanted to have a baby and wouldn't let Down Syndrome get in the way. If you truly think she is using her 7 month old baby boy to get more votes, you have no heart and have no idea what it is like to have young siblings or be a mother.

please try to keep your replies a bit "nicer" in content.

True you are entitled to your opinion as everyone is, but accusing someone of having no heart is a tad bit too harsh for an intellectual, responsible discussion.

I love your reasoning, and I pretty much agree with you on Palin. If I were to be honest, I'd say I'd be pretty scared if she became president. She doesn't seem to give a crud about the environment, and she doesn't have very much experience at all. (She's only been gov. for about 2 years, compared to Biden having about 35 years in the senate) ...I've heard people saying they were going to move to Canada if she becomes president... At this point, you either love her, or you hate her. Anyways, It's always fun to see Tina Fey make fun of her on NBC.com >.>

Correction: the bridge was never built. She was part of a campaign to get funding from lobbyists to build the bridge, but when the money got stopped after 73 million dollars, she said "I never wanted it in the first place!" and then it was part of her campaign for VP.
They started to build some road, using 25 million, but the bridge was never built and no money was ever returned.

how are those the 6 most important? You left out the fact that she didn't get a passport until last year, or that she completly lied and everybody knows it about the bridge to nowhere, and that she has an utter lack of experience. There are so many scandals, troopergate, office decoration, firing of a librarian unlawfully, on and on and on....
Oh and sorry to burst your bubble, but making money is all that almost every politician cares about

Not that i don't agree, but i'm wondering what your sources are?

And although I do agree that McCain would most likely die in office (he already has a poor health record), I don't think its logical to say that Obama would be assassinated if elected. True, he'd be our first somewhat black president. But he's also one of the most heavily guarded politicians in America.

i Know i didn't right this but i was reading the comments and my best friend did right this. America isn't ready for a black president in so many ways. Though we seem to be so far ahead of everybody in that way there are some many hypocrites in America alone. Obama would make a great president but we aren't ready. Were not even ready for a woman president. ( im not trying to be offensive)

and also wasn't president Lincoln guarded when he died.

kat wrote on October 19, 2008 - 8:45pm:

A few small points:

 A) no Lincoln wasn't guarded when he was assassinated. That's why he was killed, the guards weren't at the post they were supposed to be.

B) A good president isn't based on race or sex. It's based on their platforms and what they can do for this country. If you base your vote off of a candidate's race or gender rather than the issues at hand, you probably shouldn't be voting.

C) I didnt say it was a bad post. I don't think Palin/McCain should be elected. I just dont think its logical to say that Obama would automatically be assassinated. Have faith in your country if you're going to "sound off" for it. I respect this site and anyone who has the courage to use it. I never insulted your friend, no need for defense.

America needs change. If we continue going down the path we are, we'll eventually end up in some sort of epidemic or crisis. Obama=change. Regardless of his race. And although you personally aren't voting or condoning racism, its the thought that america isn't ready simply because he's black.

And of course McCain played off Obama's name and childhood acquaintances. But simly because his middle name is Hussein and his last name Obama doesn't make him a terrorist. And his so-called "terrorist" affiliations don't link him to anything either. McCain is trying to taint Obama's reputation so he can have a fighting chance in this election.

What is your basis for saying that america isn't ready?

gothrule24 wrote on October 22, 2008 - 3:00pm:

History and now

dwyman wrote on October 22, 2008 - 6:07pm:

That doesn't answer the question, what specificly have you seen that indicates that america is not ready to have an african american in the whitehouse?

gothrule24 wrote on October 25, 2008 - 9:26pm:

Okay just make this clear i would very much like Obama in the white HOuse i think it would be a great change and another thing the answer to your question is states that dont agree video on tv and radio show that have mention that
